SMS management

The GSM01MD module allows to the thermorecorder REC96-2005/8 (all the versions) to send alarms through SMS.

The function of the services are the followings:

1) PIN code: for the security of the SIM of the module, it is possible to keep the PIN code of activation.
2) Telephone numbers: the SMS can be sent to 3 different telephone numbers. On each of them is possible to choose the type of required service.
3) Type of alarm:
a) Thermostat:: an SMS is sent when the temperature is out of the alarm threshold (high and low).
b) Fault:: an SMS is sent when a system fault is occurred.
4) Delay of activation: to avoid false alarms, the SMS can be delayed for a time until 10 minutes. If after this period the alarm is still on, the SMS will be sent.

Another SMS is sent when all the thermostat alarm are off.

The activation/deactivation of the SMS service is possible directly from the keyboard of the thermorecorder. All the other funcions are modifiables only through an appropriate software.

Data download from GSM01MD

The GSM01MD module allow to download in a faster and automatic way the data stored in the thermorecorder which it is connected and to get it always possible everywhere there is GSM network.

The module can be used in 2 way:

1) If you need only an SMS alarm for "out thermostat threshold", for "generic fault" or for "record appened" it is enought a simply SIM (rechargeable or not). In this mode, the cost of the service is only for each SMS sent, or the cost of the agreement that the user will accept for the SMS managements.

2) If the user need to add the data transmission too, the SIM to use need another "data number". Now there are DATA SIM or "M2M" (machine to machine) that don't allow voice call but only data transmission and SMS. This type of card are cheaper and are developed for these applications. At this point it's necessary to explain that every kind of SIM it's used the call will be always on GSM network and not on GPRS. This it means that the SIM of the GSM module don't pay anything (except for SMS sent) and all the cost of the transmission will be charged to the "calling modem" (connected to PC) who can be GSM or normal telephone network.

At the last it is good to explain that there are 2 request to send to the thermorecorder:
1) It's the state of the thermorecorder, like personal code, date-time, temperature and alarm conditions. This operation need about 13 seconds (real connection).
2) It's the memory data download. The process need about 175 seconds (real connection) and at the last will be possible to store the data in the database of the program.

Economic statement

Here it's show an example of economic statement who highlight the cost that a company .... in term of time to do the operation of data download in traditional mode (through the direct connection beetwen PC and thermorecorder).
N.B.: The table, like showed, is calcolated ona a time of a "month".

This table is compilated with the following conditions:

Cost of the user: 20 € / hour

Monthly time spent form the user = about 10 min. for each download of each thermorecorder.

* = data traffic cost based on "volume" of traffic = 0.2 cent/sec.

** = data traffic cost based on "flat" traffic = 5.00 € / month.

Like you can see from the table the depreciation of the system depends from the frequency of use and not from the number of devices used.

The cost of alarm SMS are not counted in the previus table.

The GSM operators change frequently the cost and the type of agreement on the market. For this reason we suggest to analize each opportunity at the moment of the choice.
